About AFC Union's Academy Program
Who is it for?
The AFC Union Academy program is designed to support and guide players aged U8 - U10 who wish to make the transition from recreational soccer to competitive soccer.
This program is geared to the more athletically motivated recreational player who is looking to take the next step in soccer. Players with a strong desire to increase their technical skills, while also learning more about the game, will benefit greatly from AFC Union’s Academy environment.
What is its purpose?
The most important aspect of AFC's Academy Program is training. Technical and small-sided-tactical training is provided 2 times per week by our experienced Club-Paid Coaches, led by the Academy Director of Coaching Cheyenne Skenandore.
Challenging training sessions conducted by the Academy staff are the key ingredient in the personal development of the players. Training activities are devised to help each player improve technically (skills), tactically (decision making), physically (fitness), and psychologically (mental toughness). The Academy’s focus is on the complete development of each player. We aim to develop players who want to COMPETE, IMPROVE, and will PERSEVERE in the face of adversity.
Where does it take place?
AFC Union is a member of and participates in the WYSA Youth Academy program. Game play will take place in Southeast Wisconsin, with travel generally limited to the greater Milwaukee/Kenosha/Racine areas. The AFC Union Academy teams will participate in a minimum of three no-cost tournaments, with additional team-paid events offered for those families interested.
Training sessions take place 2 times a week during the Fall and Spring seasons at the SCORe Soccer Complex of Racine in Franksville, WI.
